Private members' yacht club on the south shore of Hewlett Bay at Hewlett Harbor, on the south shore of Long Island.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached through Woodmere Bay from East Rockaway Inlet, with Jones Inlet as the alternative entrance from the ocean. The bay is shallow in places, so time the approach around the tide for deeper-draught boats.
Practical
A boat basin of around 90 berths with mains water and shore power on the pontoons. Guest berths are available. Ashore there is a clubhouse, a private beach and a lawn with a children's swing set. Members have year-round access to the grounds.
History
The club was founded in 1944 by a group of local boat owners who wanted both a place to keep their boats and somewhere to bring their families.
