Reached through the Canal des Ardennes. The flight of 27 locks of Montgon to the east and the lock of Semuy to the west frame the biefs around Le Chesne. Passage times set by Voies Navigables de France. Canal draught around 1.4 m.
Practical
4 berths on a straight quay, water and electricity. No fuel on site. Small supermarket, baker and a pharmacy in Le Chesne within 500 m of the quay. Next halt at La Cassine, 4.6 NM north east, or at Attigny, 7.7 NM west.
Ashore
Lake of Bairon, a reservoir of about 140 hectares feeding the summit bief, 2 km from the quay, with swimming beach and marked paths. The 17th century church of Le Chesne stands on the main square, 300 m from the halt.
