Approach and anchoring

Canal lateral a la Garonne, PK 133 area, junction with the canalised Baise river. No tide. Speed limit 8 km/h on the canal. Buzet lock opens 9h to 12h and 14h to 19h in season.

Practical

Alongside mooring with rings and bollards. Water standpipe on the quay. Hire boat base run by Le Boat at Buzet is 200 m west, with fuel, pump-out and a repair workshop.

Ashore

Les Vignerons de Buzet cooperative cellar, producing AOC Buzet, is 400 m from the quay with tastings on site. Village grocery and bakery at 300 m. The canalised river Baise heads south to Vianne and Nerac through 13 locks.

History

The Canal lateral a la Garonne was built between 1838 and 1856 to bypass the shallow middle Garonne. Buzet became a hire boat hub in the 1980s when the Baise was reopened to navigation in 1996.
