Guide
Approach and anchoring
The bay is shallow and muddy throughout, with oyster reefs in many places marked by PVC pipe. Stay on marked channels and sound carefully when leaving them. The cove is open to the south, so it is best used in settled weather.
Practical
No facilities. Apalachicola Marina lies about 10.8 nautical miles to the west and Carrabelle about the same distance to the north-east, the nearest fuel and provisions.
Ashore
East Hole on St. George Island, within tender range, lies in Unit 4 of the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve, over a mile of protected shorebird habitat.
