Approach and anchoring

Anchor in sand and mud, which give good holding. Duck Island and the stone breakwaters that link it to the mainland enclose the water on all sides, making this one of the better all-weather stops on this stretch of the Sound. Approach by the marked Westbrook channel and keep clear of the breakwater heads.

Practical

No facilities at the anchorage itself. Safe Harbor Pilots Point Marina lies 0.8 mile north and Dock Pilots Point Marina the same distance north-east, both with fuel, repairs and transient berths for vessels up to about 100 feet. Provisions and restaurants are in Westbrook a short way up the channel.
