Approach and anchoring
Approach through DeTour Passage, marked by the DeTour Reef Light 3 miles south of the village. Floating pontoons, approach depth 12 ft, dockside 8 ft. Berths take vessels up to 100 ft.
Practical
64 berths, 50 of them for transients. Diesel and petrol, shore power, water, pump-out. Toilets, showers, coin laundry. Picnic area with pavilion and charcoal grills. Open early May to late September. VHF and bookings via the harbour master on 906-297-5947.
Ashore
DeTour Village shops, restaurants and the ferry landing for Drummond Island within walking distance. DeTour Reef Light open to public tours in season by boat from the harbour.
History
DeTour Passage carries roughly 5,000 commercial vessel movements a year between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. The DeTour Reef Light was built by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1931 to replace the 1847 shore light at Point DeTour.
