Approach and anchoring
Approach by the Saône, a Freycinet-gauge waterway with no tidal constraint. Left bank moorings for pleasure craft, calm current outside flood periods. The river is navigable year-round between Lyon and Corre, with locks operated by VNF.
Practical
Water and dry-storage facilities at the local yard Nautic Auto, with cranes for hauling small and mid-sized hulls. Village shops and a boulangerie in Crêches-sur-Saône itself. Full supermarkets, chandlery and rail station at Mâcon, 10 km north.
Ashore
Crêches-sur-Saône sits inside the Mâconnais wine area. The hamlet of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay and its Beaujolais and Saint-Véran vineyards are within 4 km on foot or by bike. The Voie Bleue cycle route along the Saône passes through the port, giving a flat 10 km ride up to Mâcon old town and its Saint-Pierre church.
