Approach and anchoring
Approach from Lake Erie via the Buffalo outer harbour, then north along the Black Rock Channel. Vessels heading further down the Niagara must call Black Rock Lock on VHF 16 about 15 minutes before arrival; commercial traffic has priority in the 200 ft wide channel.
Practical
Members-only basin alongside the Erie Basin breakwall, close to the Erie Basin Marina, 1.1 nm SE, which takes visitors. Max draught at the club berth around 3 m. Reciprocal arrangements for visiting club members on request.
History
Founded in 1860 with an initiation fee of three dollars; the first clubhouse was built in 1864 on the Erie Basin breakwall. President Grover Cleveland was among its members. The Point Abino outstation was added across the Canadian border in 1904.
