Guide
Approach and anchoring
The buoys give shelter from north and north-east winds but lie open to the south. Holding on the sand bottom is good for boats anchoring clear of the buoy field. Vessels over 45 feet must use the dock rather than the buoys, and stays are limited to three consecutive nights.
Practical
Nightly moorage is charged for the buoys, with first-come, first-served use. The moorage dock on the island has shore power for a daily fee. Boats carry all provisions aboard, as the island has no shops.
Ashore
Blake Island is a state marine park of 475 acres, reached only by boat. Trails cross the island through forest, and a saltwater beach rings the shore. Tillicum Village, on the north-east side about 1 mile away, serves salmon dinners and runs Northwest Coast Indian dance demonstrations.
