Approach and anchoring
Reached by the canal between locks 62 and 63 of the Marne branch. No current, no tide. Air draught limited to 3.50 m under the canal bridges. Canal depth around 1.80 m. No VHF watch; lock keepers contacted by horn or on approach.
Practical
Two berths against the towpath, no service installed. Water and shore power not guaranteed. Next fully equipped halt at Joinville, 12 km downstream. Small grocery and bakery in Chamouilley, 5 km away by road.
Ashore
Towpath walk along the Marne to Chamouilley in 1 hour. Chapelle de Bayard, a nineteenth century furnace chapel linked to the old ironworks, stands 400 m from the quay. The Metallurgic Park of Haut-Fourneau de Dommartin-le-Franc lies 18 km to the north.
