Approach and anchoring

Windmill Point sits on the Ware River, one of the four rivers that meet in Mobjack Bay off the western shore of Chesapeake Bay. The cove behind the point lies about four to five miles in from the bay channel. The bottom is mud and holding is good. Shelter is wide, running from north-west round through west and south to south-east.

Practical

Depths in the cove run roughly 7 to 11 feet, so sound in carefully towards the head. No facilities at the anchorage. Severn Yachting Center lies about 3.6 nm to the south and Mobjack Bay Marina about 4.5 nm to the north-east for fuel, repairs and provisions.
