Approach and anchoring

Approach on the Saône around PK 26 upstream of Lyon. Current usually 1 to 2 kn, stronger in winter. Minimum depth 2 m at the pontoon. Boats on the pontoon are rocked hard by the wake of jet-skis and fast powerboats through the day, easing at night once they leave at dusk. The former Port Bernalin lock lies 2.4 NM SE.

Practical

Five berths on a floating pontoon, max draught 2 m, managed by the adjacent campsite. Water and electricity on the quay, both included in the fee, along with the campsite showers and toilets. Overnight is around 12 to 13 euros for a 10 m boat, wifi free for one device then a small charge for each extra one. The pontoon fills quickly in summer. Town centre at 400 m with bakery, small supermarket and restaurants.

Ashore

Parliament building of the Dombes from 1696 in the upper town, 600 m from the port. Ruins of the medieval château on the hill with view over the Saône valley, open Wednesday to Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm, entry 5 euros. Sunday morning market on Place de la Terrasse.

History

Trévoux was capital of the sovereign principality of Dombes until 1762, with its own parliament, mint and printing works. The Jesuits published the Dictionnaire de Trévoux here from 1704.
