Approach and anchoring
Anchor anywhere along the roughly 1 mile stretch of shoreline on the bay side of the park. Water is shallow, typically 2 to 4 feet, so a shoal-draught boat or a careful eye on the sounder is needed. The mud bottom holds well. The ground is sheltered from north-east through south-east but open to the western quarter.
Practical
No facilities at the anchorage itself. Trixie's Landing and Downes Marina both lie about 2.2 to 2.3 miles to the north-west with berths and provisions.
Ashore
Wade or tender ashore to reach Island Beach State Park: Fisherman's Walkway crosses the barrier island to the open Atlantic beach. The park road links the anchorage to the swimming areas and the maritime forest dunes.
