Approach and anchoring
The anchorage lies in the cove west of Logan International Airport, off the Jeffries Point shore. Holding is on mud. Sheltered from N, NE and E winds, open to the harbour and to vessel traffic from the channel. Jeffries Yacht Club lies 0.2 miles NE and Carefree Boat Club 0.2 miles NW.
Ashore
The Harborwalk runs along the Jeffries Point waterfront to Piers Park, which has a community sailing centre and a playground. Maverick Square, with restaurants and a subway station two stops from downtown Boston, is a short walk from the shore.
History
Jeffries Yacht Club, founded around 1876, is one of the oldest chartered yacht clubs on the Atlantic coast. East Boston grew through the 19th century as a shipbuilding district and as an arrival point for Irish immigrants.
