Approach and anchoring

Holding is good in mud, though the bottom is fouled in places by aquaculture debris, so a tripping line is wise. Well sheltered in most winds, but open to the NE down the river, and a strong spring ebb against the wind can raise a short swell; boats then lie easier further up past buoy No 10, behind the mudbank. Anchor just south of the château and tuck in towards the bank, as it shoals towards the middle. Swinging room is tight and the tidal range reaches 9 m, so allow scope for that and show an anchor light close to the channel. Tréguier 0.8 NM S, Port Blanc 3.9 NM NW at the mouth. Tidal stream runs strongly on both flood and ebb, so plan the approach on a fair tide.

Practical

Land by dinghy on the harbour wall at Tréguier. An organic supermarket sits by the marina office and a larger supermarket up the hill, with a market on Wednesday mornings. Tréguier is one of the Brittany marinas where customs clearance is possible, though the office is closed on Sundays.

Ashore

Tréguier old town with its 14th century Cathédrale Saint-Tugdual and half-timbered houses on Place du Martray within 15 minutes walk from the quay. Sentier des douaniers GR34 runs along both banks of the Jaudy estuary toward Plougrescant.
