Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south-east channel between Pomègues and the mainland. Anchor on the sand patch in the middle of the bay in about 10 m, where holding is good; weed and rocky shoulders that rise quickly lie to the sides. The bay is small, with room for only two boats or so. Exposed to SE swell, and it rolls with the wash of traffic passing Frioul, though it settles once the day boats leave. Pointe de Pomègues lies 0.3 nm to the north and Île du Frioul 0.4 nm to the north-east for shelter if the wind veers.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services. Port du Frioul on Ratonneau, within 1 nm, has water, fuel and berths, several restaurants and a small supermarket with limited fresh supplies, and a ferry to Marseille for sightseeing.

Ashore

Fort de Pomègues ruins sit above the anchorage, reached by the coastal path from Port du Frioul in about 2 km. The archipelago is part of the Parc national des Calanques, with marked trails across Pomègues and Ratonneau.
