Private Quay Peronne
- Maximum draught
- 8 ft
Private quay on the Canal du Nord at Péronne in the Somme, Hauts-de-France, upstream of the main leisure port.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached via the Canal du Nord, which follows the Canal de la Somme between Péronne and Voyennes. Commercial traffic up to 900 tonnes shares the waterway. Maximum draught 2.5 m. The quay lies behind a gated road; call the number on the sign for the gate code. It makes a secure, quiet overnight stop, with a rubbish bin by the gate but no services.
Practical
The municipal marina alongside is shallow and weedy, so deeper-draught boats lie on this outside quay instead, and its facilities are not open to crews on the private quay. Péronne municipal port, 0.1 nm to the south, otherwise has diesel, water, electricity and showers. A line of bollards on the far bank offers another short-stay mooring, without a gate and closer to industry. Town centre within walking distance.
Ashore
Historial de la Grande Guerre, a museum of the First World War housed in the medieval castle of Péronne, about 600 m from the quay. Bike path along the Canal de la Somme south towards Froissy. Food shops and bakeries in the town centre under 1 km.
