Inland port on the Canal de Saint-Quentin near Guny, in the Aisne department, Hauts-de-France.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached via the Canal de Saint-Quentin, linking the Oise and the Escaut. Depth alongside the marina quay is only about 1.2 m, below the nominal 1.5 m, so boats drawing more cannot berth. Locks operated by VNF, river licence required. Air draught typical of northern French canals, check gauges before entry.
Practical
Pontoons with water and shore power, though the drinking water smells of chlorine. A public quay lies on the opposite bank, but the marina facilities of showers, washing machine and water are reserved for boats paying for a berth. Village amenities at Guny within walking distance. Larger shops and SNCF rail station at Chauny about 7 km north.
Ashore
Forêt domaniale de Coucy-Basse walking trails from the port. Château de Coucy ruins at 15 km, one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe before its 1917 destruction. Laon cathedral town at 30 km, perched on its ridge with four Gothic towers.
