River marina of 258 berths on the Rance, at the upstream entrance of the Chatelier lock, about halfway between Saint-Malo and Dinan.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
From the Rance estuary, pass through the Rance tidal dam lock at La Richardais, then follow the fresh-water reach upstream for about 10 nautical miles to the Chatelier lock. Port Lyvet lies just above Chatelier, with a maximum draught of 0.7 metre at the pontoons. The lock opens to a tidal schedule published by Voies Navigables de France.
Practical
258 berths on pontoons with water and electricity. Sanitary block with showers, small boatyard with crane, restaurant on the quay. No permanent fuel berth. The harbour office is not staffed at all hours, so book ahead. Mobile coverage is poor and there is effectively no working wifi. Nearest shops at Pleudihen-sur-Rance, about 2 km by road.
Ashore
Towpath along the Rance for walking and cycling, part of the Veloroute V3 from Saint-Malo to Arzon. Dinan and its medieval port are 3 nautical miles upstream, reachable by boat at high water or by bike in about 30 minutes. Wine and cider tastings at farms in the Pleudihen area within 3 km.
