Marina of around 500 berths on the west bank of the Pouldavid river at the entrance of Douarnenez Bay, western Finistère.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Douarnenez Bay on a north-east heading, leaving the Basse Véour buoy to port. Channel marked by red and green beacons, maximum draught 3 m at the outer pontoons. Visitors lie along a long pontoon facing Île Tristan and raft up once it fills in season; it turns choppy in strong wind, especially from the NE, with the wash of passing boats, so take the inner side and prefer to berth near high water. Currents can make leaving tricky at low water on big springs. Bay open to winds from NW to NE, well sheltered inside. VHF 9 for the harbour office.
Practical
Around 500 berths on pontoons, water and electricity at each berth, diesel on the fuel berth at the root of the breakwater. On-water assistance is only guaranteed from 4 in the afternoon, and the office does not always answer the VHF or phone, so plan the arrival; visitor rates run roughly 27 to 36 euros a night. Capitainerie, showers and launderette on the quay. A chandlery sits near the marina, with a supermarket and bakeries in Tréboul village at 300 m, a Leclerc at 500 m, and a Saturday morning market by the marina. Full services in Douarnenez centre at 1 km.
Ashore
Plage des Sables Blancs at 400 m west of the marina, sand beach with lifeguards in summer. GR34 coastal path runs west to the Pointe de Leydé in 3 km. Port-Musée de Douarnenez with its floating fleet of historic working boats is at Port Rhu, 500 m on foot across the Jean Marin footbridge.
History
Tréboul was a sardine port until its merger with Douarnenez in 1945, and its marina basin was built in the 1970s on the site of the former fishing harbour.
