Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom with good holding in 5 to 10 metres, the bottom shelving gently so boats can stand well in. Sheltered from NW, N, NE, W and E winds, exposed to S and SE; tuck into the head of the cove to dodge the open-sea swell. Night thermals can blow hard down off the land. Free of dangers in the approach, bay clear beyond the 5 metre contour. Morgat 2.6 NM W for all-weather shelter, Camaret-sur-Mer 7.1 NM NW on the north coast of the peninsula.
Practical
No services. Water, fuel and shops at Morgat marina.
Ashore
Grottes marines de Morgat accessible by dinghy along the cliffs W of the anchorage, sea caves cut into Armorican sandstone, visitable by passenger boat from Morgat. Cap de la Chèvre 4 km S by coastal path GR 34, southern tip of the Crozon peninsula with views over the bay of Douarnenez.
