Marina of 400 berths on the French south shore of Lake Geneva, in Sciez-sur-Léman, Haute-Savoie.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open approach from the lake, no tidal constraint. Entrance between two breakwaters marked by red and green lights. Watch for the bise, the cold north-easterly wind that raises short steep chop on the Petit Lac. The visitor berths lie just inside the entrance and are exposed when it blows hard, so nights can be lumpy. Maximum draught 4 metres. Harbour VHF channel 9.
Practical
400 berths including visitor pontoons, around 18 euros a night. Water and electricity on the quays. Fuel station and a sewage pump-out at the port. Harbour office, sanitary block with showers. A slipway with free car parking, though trailers may have to park in the street. Village of Sciez 800 metres inland with bakery, grocery and restaurants, and restaurants by the port itself.
Ashore
Château de Coudrée stands 0.3 nautical miles west of the port, a medieval keep on the lake shore with origins in the 13th century. Domaine de Guidou nature reserve is 1 km east along the shoreline path, a wetland area for migratory birds. Thonon-les-Bains is 10 km east by road.
