Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the E in the rade d'Hyères, clear of the shoals off the salt marshes of Pesquiers. Entrance through a narrow channel between two jetties. Max draught 1.5 m, small craft only. VHF 9. There is room to anchor off the harbour on sand, holding well and giving shelter from the west in a mistral, useful for boats too large or deep for the port.

Practical

198 berths, water and electricity on pontoons, sanitary block. In water-restriction periods the port may decline to fill jerry cans for boats not berthed there. No fuel berth at La Capte, nearest at Port Saint-Pierre 0.9 NM N. Port du Niel 2.1 NM SW on the Giens peninsula as alternative.

Ashore

Plage de La Capte directly east of the harbour, part of the 4 km sandy beach of the eastern tombolo. A market is held at La Capte on Friday mornings. Route du Sel cycle path along the salt pans to the presqu'île de Giens, departure point for Porquerolles ferries at La Tour Fondue 4 km S.
