Inland marina of 20 berths on the Canal du Rhône au Rhin at Dole, in the Jura department.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached via the Canal du Rhône au Rhin from Saint-Jean-de-Losne upstream or from Besançon downstream. Maximum draught 1.8 m. Standard Freycinet gauge, locks 38.5 m long. No tidal constraint.
Practical
20 berths with water and electricity on finger pontoons in good order, around 10 euros a night for a 13 to 14 metre boat. Showers are token operated. Half the finger pontoons belong to the Nicols charter base, so berths fill by midday in summer and it pays to arrive early. Town centre of Dole within a few minutes on foot for shops, bakeries and supermarkets. Fuel not available on site, nearest station in town.
Ashore
Old town of Dole starts 300 m from the pontoon, with the Collégiale Notre-Dame built in the 16th century and the birthplace of Louis Pasteur now a museum at 15 rue Pasteur. Restaurant Le Local in the old town. Canal towpath runs along the Doubs for walking and cycling on the EuroVelo 6 route.
