Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach on the canalised Moselle between the locks of Custines downstream and Blénod upstream. The basin sits on the right bank at PK 328 and has up to 4.5 m of water, suitable for hire boats and barges up to around 30 m. Contact the harbour office on 03 83 83 53 52 before arrival in high season.
Practical
Over 80 berths for river boats plus 45 motorhome pitches, split between a small pontoon and a concrete quay wall that takes about 8 boats. Water and electricity at the pontoons, but none on the concrete quay. Showers, washing machine, Wi-Fi and a restaurant in the harbour building. The tourist office runs an annexe on site. Blue Flag award held since 2013. Keep the boat locked, as there have been reports of theft and of rowdy late-night crowds on the quay.
Ashore
Place Duroc and its XVIth century arcaded houses are 300 m from the pontoons. The Prémontrés Abbey, founded in 1705 and used for concerts and exhibitions, is 500 m north along the quay. Butte de Mousson with its castle ruins is 3 km east.
History
Pont-à-Mousson grew around the bridge built in 1261 and hosted a university from 1572 until it was moved to Nancy in 1768. The town gave its name to the Pont-à-Mousson foundry, founded in 1856, still a major producer of ductile iron pipes. The marina is named after Michel Roth, a former mayor.
