Open anchorage off the sand beach of Trez Cao, south Finistere, between Concarneau and the Pointe de Trevignon.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south in clear water. Watch the rocky heads fringing the Trevignon peninsula to the W; give the headland a wide berth and identify the cardinal marks before closing in. Anchor in 3 to 5 m on clean sand, holding is good. Shelter from NW through N to E; exposed to S and SW, which raise a short swell on a rising tide. Watch for fishing pot floats close to the beach and nets laid off the neighbouring bays; best to arrive by daylight.

Practical

No services on the mooring. Port de Trevignon lies 0.6 nm west with a small fishing and yacht harbour, water on the quay and a few shops in the village. Rosbras up the Aven river is 4 nm east.

Ashore

GR34 coastal path runs behind the beach, leading west to the Pointe de Trevignon and its 19th-century semaphore in about 1 km. Village of Tregunc 4 km inland, with weekly market on Tuesday morning.
