Approach and anchoring

Approach from the main channel of the Golfe du Morbihan between Île aux Moines and Île d'Arz. Strong tidal streams run through the gulf, up to 8 knots at the Passage de la Jument on springs. Visitor buoys are dark blue with a weight limit marked on the trunk, many rated only 5 to 6 tonnes, so check before picking up. Anchoring is allowed just outside the field at the edge of the channel, but the bottom is soft mud over weed and boats have dragged on a strong wind or the making tide, so lay out well. Harbour office on VHF 9.

Practical

61 buoys managed by the local authority, around 15 to 17 euros a night. In July and August the harbour service runs a shuttle ashore and allocates buoys until 8pm, with hot showers in the sanitary block; out of season there is no attendant and only a few small buoys remain. Cale du Beluré slipway 1 NM to the north on Île d'Arz. Village of Le Béluré for basic shops, bakery and a few restaurants. Ferry link to Vannes from the island pier.

Ashore

Coastal path around Île d'Arz covering roughly 17 km, marked and accessible from the pier. Moulin de Berno tide mill to the south of the island, one of the few working tide mills in France. Bike rentals near the ferry pier.
