Approach and anchoring
Reached by the Canal de la Marne au Rhin, branche Est, between Vitry-le-François and Saint-Dizier. Freycinet gauge. VNF locks. Bridges and overhead cables fix the air draught.
Practical
Room for several boats alongside the quay. Water and electricity available on the quay. A fee of around 8 euros may be collected, though it is not always posted or charged. No fuel on site. Two or three bakeries and a restaurant in the village within a short walk, but the grocery store is further out. SNCF station on the Paris to Strasbourg regional line at 400 m.
Ashore
Pargny-sur-Saulx grew around tile and brickworks from the late 19th century, still visible in the red roofscape. Valley of the Saulx with villages rebuilt after the 1914 to 1918 destruction. Forest walks in the Forêt de Trois-Fontaines west of the village.
