Approach and anchoring

Access via the Grand Canal d'Alsace, which parallels the Rhine. The Kembs lock lies just south and handles commercial traffic, with the small Niffer lock close by. Max draught 1.5 m. The entrance to the port channel is narrow with strong cross-currents, so approach with care, all the more as the locks cycle.

Practical

Pontoons managed by the Nautic Club, secured by code, at about 2 euros a metre all inclusive, with WiFi and new, clean toilets and showers; a washing machine costs 3 euros a wash. Petit Landau 3.2 nm N, Port Plaisance Mulhouse 7.5 nm NW. Kembs village centre about 1 km away with basic shops.

Ashore

EuroVelo 15 Rhine cycle route passes alongside the canal, and a cycle path along the Canal de Huningue on the far side of the port runs all the way to Basel. A restaurant aboard a barge sits at the harbour. Petite Camargue Alsacienne nature reserve 3 km north, a wetland of 904 hectares between the canal and the Rhine with waymarked trails.
