Approach and anchoring
Reached by the Rance maritime, downstream of the tidal barrage. Strong reversing currents on flood and ebb, with a renverse to watch; lock operations are announced on VHF 13. Bottom of mud and stones, where the anchor will still hold. Room for only two or three boats in the narrow band between the mooring buoys and the channel. Shelter from N, NE, E and SE sectors. Swim only around slack water, the stream runs hard otherwise.
Practical
No facilities on the mooring itself. Centre Nautique La Richardais is 1 NM NW for sailing-school services and a pontoon. Port Minic is 1.5 NM south on the Saint-Malo bank.
Ashore
The Barrage de la Rance, commissioned in 1966, is the world's first tidal power station still in regular operation, 240 MW installed. A cycle and pedestrian path crosses the barrage towards Dinard, about 1 km from the mooring shore.
