Marina in the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, on the canal de l'Ourcq between the Rotonde de Ledoux and the pont levant de la rue de Crimée.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Paris waterways from the Seine via the Port de l'Arsenal lock at Bastille, then the Canal Saint-Martin with its nine locks and covered section under Boulevard Richard-Lenoir. Continue through the Bassin de la Villette to the marina pontoon. VNF lock schedule applies. Port de l'Arsenal lies 2.4 NM south, Port Van Gogh 3.3 NM NW.
Practical
Small operation with limited berths, booking required in advance. Water and power on the pontoon, but no wifi. A key-coded gate secures the pontoon with no public access, and staff on site handle the rubbish. The shared toilets and showers sit on the far side of the basin, hard to find and in poor condition. The basin is busy and can be noisy at night. Supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and métro Jaurès or Riquet within 300 m.
Ashore
MK2 Quai de Seine and Quai de Loire cinemas on the basin, pedal-boat and electric-boat rental. Parc de la Villette and Cité des sciences et de l'industrie at the north end of the basin, 700 m from the marina. Canal Saint-Martin walks south along the water to République.
