Approach and anchoring
On the Sarthe, a 132 km navigable river between Le Mans and Angers, punctuated by hand-operated locks managed by lock-keepers on site. La Suze lock lies immediately upstream of the halt. Low air draught under the road bridge.
Practical
Two pontoons with water, electricity and wi-fi for 11 euros per 24 hours, payable at the campsite reception. Power may not be switched on early in the season and the gate needs a code, both sorted at reception. Access to the renovated campsite showers for 3 euros. A municipal indoor swimming pool adjoins the halt. Canalous charter base on site with penichette rentals. Aventure Nautique hires canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and electric day boats.
Ashore
Town centre shops, bakeries and the Thursday morning market are within 200 m of the pontoons. The Voie Verte greenway along the former Le Mans to Angers railway crosses the halt and runs for 52 km to Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Malicorne-sur-Sarthe and its faience workshops lie 18 km downstream by boat, Solesmes abbey 55 km.
