Guide
Approach and anchoring
The well-marked main channel runs between Ile Saint-Nicolas and Ile du Loc'h, with numbered visitor buoys in rows on either side, larger white buoys for bigger boats and smaller blue ones closer to the beach. Holding is good on sand, and there is room to anchor south of the buoyed area in about 2,5 m at low water, where it lies quieter. Shelter is best from NW through N to NE; a westerly sends swell straight down the channel and it rolls around high water. Drying rocks lie south of the channel.
Practical
No facilities ashore, no water and no shops, so arrive well stored; there are composting toilets on Ile Saint-Nicolas. A buoy costs roughly 15 to 20 euros a night, collected by the harbour launch in the morning around 09:00, and the buoys are lifted at the end of the season in October. The channel speed limit is widely ignored and passing wash sets boats rolling.
Ashore
Ile Saint-Nicolas has two bar-restaurants where booking is advised in high season, reached by tender from the slipway; Ile du Loc'h across the channel is far quieter. White sand beaches and clear water surround the anchorage. The Pardon des Glenan is held on the first weekend of September.
