Approach and anchoring

Reached by the canal, downstream of lock 36 Viéville. Max draught 2 m. Speed limit 6 km/h in the canal reach. The VNF lock-keeper operates the adjacent lock on request.

Practical

Water and electricity on the quay, the first night free then about 9.80 euros a night. No fuel at the halt. Do not count on the village for supplies; despite the noticeboard, a visitor found no shop within 500 m, so provision beforehand. Picnic halt at Vouécourt 1.9 NM north and halt at Riaucourt 3.6 NM south for extending the day.

Ashore

Voie verte de la Haute-Marne runs along the canal towpath, 80 km from Chaumont to Joinville for walking and cycling. The Marne valley villages of Vouécourt and Bologne at 2 km and 4 km have Romanesque churches. Forêt domaniale du Val at 3 km for walking.
