Drying harbour on the Orne estuary at Merville-Franceville-Plage in Normandy, opposite Ouistreham.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry dries out at low water with a maximum draught of 0.1 m at chart datum. Access only near high water, through the Orne estuary channel. Watch the strong tidal streams at the river mouth. Keep close to the starboard-hand marks on the way in, as sandbanks lie inside them. A few moorings stay afloat towards the mouth of the estuary and suit a keelboat that needs to stay in the water.
Practical
Small club facility run by the Cercle Nautique de Franceville. Suitable for dinghies and shallow-draught boats. For keelboats, use Ouistreham marina 0.9 nm to the west.
