Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom. Sheltered from north through to north-west by the land, but fully open to winds and swell from the south. The water off the beach is usually calm in settled north-westerlies. Fresh water is available nearby. Land tenders on the beach beside Capitola Wharf, the fishing pier at the mouth of Soquel Creek.
Ashore
Capitola Village fronts the beach with shops, galleries and restaurants. Santa Cruz, with the nearest yacht club and small-craft harbour, lies 2.4 nm to the west.
