Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, leaving Île de Bendor to the west. The bottom is mostly posidonia and rock with only scattered sand patches, so hunt for clear sand in 4 to 7 metres where holding is good once through the weed. Shelter from E and SE winds, though little from the wind itself. Exposed to the mistral from W and NW.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Port Méditerranée at Sanary 0.4 NM NE, with water, fuel and visitor berths. La Coudoulière marina at Six-Fours 0.4 NM SE.

Ashore

Land the dinghy at the small disused Port de la Méditerranée close by, calling the Sanary harbour office for permission to leave it there. Sanary-sur-Mer village lies 900 m by dinghy at the old port, with a daily morning market on the quays and pastel fishermen's houses along the seafront; bus 70 runs from town to the Auchan and Leclerc hypermarkets for a big shop. Maison Jean Moulin museum on the port honours the Resistance leader who lived in Sanary.
