Approach and anchoring
Reached on the canalised Aa between the lock of Watten downstream and the junction with the canal de Neufossé upstream. Commercial barge traffic uses the same waterway. Air draught limited by road bridges, check local notices.
Practical
Pontoon moorings for river cruisers. Water on the quay. Bakery and small shops in Watten village, within walking distance of the port.
Ashore
The hill of Mont de Watten rises to 72 m above the Flanders plain south of the village, with the ruins of a 12th century Benedictine abbey at its summit. Audomarois marsh, a UNESCO biosphere reserve of cultivated wetland gardens, lies about 10 km south around Saint-Omer.
