Port Muskogee Three Forks Harbor

Muskogee, United States
Type
Harbour

Inland marina on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System at river mile 393.6, at the confluence of the Arkansas, Verdigris and Grand rivers, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Reached by the McClellan-Kerr waterway from the Mississippi via the Arkansas River, through a series of locks all the way up to Muskogee. Three Forks Harbor is the furthest inland all-weather access point of the system. River currents follow the flow, stronger after spring runoff.

Practical

Covered slips from 25 to 75 ft, fitted with water, 110 and 220 volt shore power in 30 and 50 amp, and satellite TV outlets. Two boat ramps. Operated by the Muskogee City-County Port Authority. The River Center, a 10,000 sq ft multipurpose hall on site, hosts events and is open to boaters.

Ashore

Five-mile wilderness trail along the harbour for walking and cycling. Honor Heights Park, known for its azalea garden, at 4 km west. Muskogee city centre and the Three Rivers Museum at 3 km north.

History

The Three Forks area was a key trading post in the early 19th century, where the Verdigris meets the Arkansas. The current harbour and River Center are the result of a roughly 12 million USD redevelopment of the riverfront led by the Port Authority.
