Approach and anchoring

Access from the Canal du Nord via the junction with the Canal de la Somme. Maximum draught in the approach channel 1,3 m. Maximum length 15 m. No night navigation on the Canal du Nord. Call the port office at the adjacent campsite on 03 22 84 19 31 before arrival in low season.

Practical

Seventeen pontoon berths with water and 220 V 16 A electricity. Showers and toilets shared with the three-star campsite on the same site. No fuel berth, nearest petrol station in town 1 km away. Supermarket 700 m, town centre with shops and restaurants 1,2 km.

Ashore

Historial de la Grande Guerre in the medieval castle, 1 km on foot, museum on the First World War and the Battle of the Somme. Étangs du Cam around the canal peninsula, 2 km walking loop. Véloroute V30 cycle path along the canal.

History

Péronne was besieged in 1536 by imperial troops and again in 1870. The town was destroyed during the Battle of the Somme in 1916 to 1917 and rebuilt in the 1920s. The medieval castle escaped destruction and now houses the Historial de la Grande Guerre, opened in 1992.
