Approach and anchoring

Reached from the St Johns River, about 25 miles upstream from the Atlantic inlet and the Intracoastal Waterway. The Ortega River bascule bridge governs the final approach into a sheltered cove that holds the marina basin out of the wind and swell.

Practical

Around 192 berths from 30 to 70 feet, with T-heads taking yachts up to 130 feet. There is a clubhouse, a heated pool, laundry, loaner bikes and grilling areas. A West Marine chandlery, grocery stores and restaurants are within walking distance for provisioning.

Ashore

The historic Avondale shopping and dining district is a short walk inland, with Boone Park and its tennis courts and walking paths nearby. Downtown Jacksonville lies a few minutes away by car.
