Guide
Approach and anchoring
Bright white and yellow rock formations on the western wall make the bay easy to identify. In high season set bow and stern anchors; at quieter times a single hook near the middle may hold. The bay is well protected from the prevailing north-westerlies. Santa Barbara Harbour lies 22.3 nm to the N.
Ashore
The shore is on Nature Conservancy land, with coastal canyons and beaches to explore. A landing permit from the Conservancy is required to come ashore, with no camping allowed. From 1910 to 1937 the bay was leased to Ira Eaton, who ran a tent resort for visitors here.
