Approach and anchoring
Approach from the main channel of the Upper Mississippi in the bluff country reach near Prairie du Chien. The marina lies on the Iowa bank at McGregor. The Wisconsin River joins the Mississippi just upstream, widening the pool considerably.
Practical
Berths and dry storage on the Iowa side. Rental fleet covers pontoon boats, houseboats sleeping family-sized groups, jet skis, kayaks and paddleboards. On-site bar and restaurant, Big Buoys Bar, on the waterfront. Phone +1 563 873 9613.
Ashore
Pikes Peak State Park sits on the bluff above McGregor, with views over the Wisconsin and Mississippi confluence. Effigy Mounds National Monument is roughly 6 miles north, with prehistoric earthworks shaped as bears and birds. Prairie du Chien on the Wisconsin bank is reached by the Marquette bridge.
History
McGregor was a major ferry crossing and grain shipping point in the mid-19th century, before rail bridges reshaped Mississippi trade. The marina was renamed Nauti Marina after a change of ownership.
