Approach and anchoring
Approach upriver from Peoria Lake. The Illinois River carries commercial barge traffic between Chicago and the Mississippi, so monitor VHF 13 and give tows wide berth on bends. Current runs 1 to 2 knots downstream and can increase after heavy rain on the upper river. The marina sits on the east bank at 5406 N Galena Road.
Practical
Two harbours of wet slips and dry storage, certified Mercury service, chandlery for parts, filters and life jackets. Pontoon, jet-ski and ski-boat rentals on site. Open Monday to Friday 8 to 17, weekends 11 to 16.
Ashore
Peoria Heights village centre lies within walking distance, with restaurants and the Tower Park observation deck at 1 km. Downtown Peoria is 5 miles south by road for full provisioning and the Caterpillar Visitors Center.
