Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach on the Okeechobee Waterway between Lake Okeechobee and the Caloosahatchee River. The docks lie just west of the US 27 bridge and immediately downstream of the Moore Haven Lock, which keeps lake-level water back. Bridge clearance and lock schedule control the timing of arrival. Call the lockmaster on VHF before transiting.
Practical
About 800 ft of bulkhead dockage along Riverside Drive, with shore power and water hookups. Restrooms and showers in the adjacent park. The 2025 rate is 3 dollars per foot. Payment at City Hall during office hours or to the duty officer after 5 pm. Glades Boat Yard for haul-out at 8.5 NM west.
History
The lock and the linked canal were built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1935 as part of the cross-state Okeechobee Waterway, completed in 1937. The town itself was platted in 1915 around the canal works.
