Approach and anchoring

Quick access to Lake Michigan from a sheltered harbour. The marina sits just south of the Manitowoc River mouth.

Practical

Floating berths, fuel berth and pump-out. Heads, showers and laundry, ship's store, boat launches and fish-cleaning stations. Boatyard with 50 and 70 ton travel lifts, indoor heated and outdoor storage, and a full repair, rigging and electronics service.

Ashore

Downtown Manitowoc, with shops and dining, is within walking distance. The Wisconsin Maritime Museum stands on Maritime Drive and includes the WWII submarine USS Cobia, a National Historic Landmark moored on the river.

History

Manitowoc was a Great Lakes shipbuilding centre. During the Second World War the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company built 28 submarines, launched sideways into the Manitowoc River.
