Tribal marina at Neah Bay on the Makah Reservation, built in 1997. 200 slips from 9 to 21 metres with side-tie space for vessels over 30 metres, near the entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Approach and anchoring

Neah Bay opens to the south behind Waadah Island, which protects the anchorage from the strait. Enter through the eastern channel marked by buoys. Last sheltered harbour before Cape Flattery, 5 nm west, and the open Pacific.

Practical

Fuel berth with petrol, diesel and lubricants. Fresh water, shore power, restrooms and showers. Permanent and transient moorage. Vehicle and trailer parking, short and long term. Office at 1321 Bayview Avenue, phone 360 645 3015.

Ashore

Makah Museum at the Makah Cultural and Research Center, 1 km from the marina, with artefacts from the 500-year-old Ozette village. Cape Flattery Trail 13 km west by road, a 1.2 km walk to the north-westernmost point of the contiguous United States. Makah Recreation Permit required for parking at trailheads.

History

The marina was built to serve the Makah commercial salmon and halibut fleet, alongside sport fishing charters drawing visitors to the strait.
