Approach and anchoring
River navigation on the Baïse between Condom and Nérac, downstream towards the Garonne. Several manual locks along the route, passage usually during posted hours in season. Shallow reaches in late summer, air draught and draught limited by the small scale of the waterway.

Modest halt aimed at river cruisers and rental boats. Water and limited shore power at the quay. Village shops, bakery and a small supermarket within 500 m of the mooring.
Ashore
Abbaye de Flaran, a 12th century Cistercian abbey with well preserved cloister and monastic buildings, 1 km south of the village on the D930. Bastide square of Valence-sur-Baïse, founded 1274 under a paréage between the abbey and the count of Armagnac. Larressingle, one of the smallest fortified villages in France, 6 km north-west.
History
Valence-sur-Baïse was founded in 1274 as a bastide, a planned medieval town, under a paréage contract between the abbot of Flaran and Géraud V, count of Armagnac. The grid street pattern around the central square is unchanged.
