Municipal harbour of refuge on the western shore of Lake Huron, 71 berths for boats up to 38 metres, dredged to 2.1 metres.

Approach and anchoring
Open approach from Lake Huron, no tidal constraints. Entrance between two stone breakwaters marked by red and green lights. The basin was last dredged in 2015 to a depth of around 7 feet. VHF 16 working, harbourmaster on 989 724 5242. About half the slips are reserved for transient boaters.
Practical
71 berths on floating and fixed pontoons, 35 of them for visitors. Diesel and petrol on the fuel berth, water and 30 or 50 amp shore power, pump-out, showers, laundry, free wifi. Boaters lounge with fireplace open 24 hours. Marine supplies and minor repairs on site. Loaner bicycles for guests.
Ashore
City of Harrisville and its 500 residents start at the harbour gate, with grocery, pubs and a small beach within 300 metres. Harrisville State Park 1.5 km south for swimming and pine forest camping. Sturgeon Point Lighthouse and Museum 8 km north, built in 1869 and still active.
History
Harrisville grew in the 1850s around the Harris brothers sawmill, which exported white pine to Chicago and Buffalo until the local stands were cut out around 1910. The harbour was rebuilt as a federal harbour of refuge to give shelter on a long stretch of unprotected Huron shoreline.
