Approach and anchoring
Inland reservoir, no tide. Level managed by EDF for the Barrage d'Éguzon hydroelectric dam. Mud bottom, good holding. Shelter from NW, W and SW depending on the cove chosen. Motor power limited by prefectural order, sail and electric favoured.
Practical
No services on the anchorage. Base nautique de Chambon at the north end of the lake with slip, sailing school and kayak rental. Village shops in Éguzon-Chantôme 4 km from the shore.
Ashore
Barrage d'Éguzon, commissioned in 1926 and once the largest dam in Europe, stands at the southern end of the lake. Sentier des Peintres hiking loop follows the cliffs of the Creuse valley painted by Claude Monet and Armand Guillaumin in the 1890s. Village of Crozant and its medieval castle ruins 6 km south.
